Chapter 2. Upgrading From v3.2x

If you are upgrading from version 3.2x of the Web Site Replicator, there are several things you should know before doing so. The chapter will explain the major differences between the two versions. and how it will affect your business.

2.1 Web Site Replication

We have developed a new method of replication for the Web Site Replicator v4.0, and because of this, static replication is no longer supported. If you are currently using Server Side Includes replication, then this does not affect you in anyway.

Your member's self replicating web sites may currently be located at a URL like:
http://www.domain.com/USERNAME/

Due to the new replication method we have developed, your member's URLs can no longer be like above. Instead, they must be something like:
http://www.domain.com/members/USERNAME/

There must be something such as /members/ in the URL. If wanted, you can change the name to whatever you want (eg. /reps/), but there must be something there.

2.2 Commission Structure

We decided to completley re-create the commission structure for the new version. The new commission structure tries to resemble a bank statement, allowing your member's to easily view all commissions they have earned. This is a much more stable and efficient commission structure.

The Web Site Replicator v4.0 also now allows you to differentiate commission values between member types, unlike version 3.2. Plus, there is now an extra option which allows you to specify if deactivated members receive commission or not.

2.3 Forced Matrix Programs

Unfortunately, there was a bug in version 3.2 of the Web Site Replicator, which compressed the matrix incorrectly when members were deleted. The new version of the Web Site Replicator contains several validation checks which validates all needed information in your database before deleting a member. Because of this, when Envex Developments completes the upgrade of your server, there is a good chance that some of your member's downlines will change.

However, all members will be placed into the downlines correctly, and this is only a one-time thing. After the upgrade, all members will be correctly placed in the matrix, and will stay that way.

2.4 Multiple Member Types

As you probably already know, the Web Site Replicator supports a feature which allows you to create multiple member types. In version 3.2, you also had the option of giving each member type their own self replicating web site, and commission plan. Version 4.0 separates member types, self replicating web sites, commission plans, and so on.

Instead of having a different self replicating web site for every member type, there is no link between the two in version 4.0. Instead, you can have as many member types as you would like, and also have as many self replicating web sites you would like. Then, when you create or edit a member, you can change their member type and/or their self replicating web site.

2.5 Deleted Members

When a member is deleted, the Web Site Replicator now keeps the member's information in the database. The member's status simply changes from Active to Deleted. The Web Site Replicator keeps the deleted member's information in the database so things like the Commission and Growth reports are correct.

Another reason for this is, for example, if a member quits the program and later complains that they were not paid out all commissions owed to them, you will still have their information in the database to check.

2.6 Commission Information
When your server is upgraded to version 4.0 of the Web Site Replicator, all commission specific information will be lost. Instead, one commission transaction will be added into the database, dated the day of the upgrade, which says the administrator added the member's current commission due.

For example, if a member has a commission due of $45 before the ugprade, after the upgrade, the member's commission information will state that no commission was ever added to the member, except that $45 was added by the administrator on the day of the upgrade.
